A pro-Palestinian march took place in downtown Ottawa today, Sunday, demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza area.
The demonstration began in front of Parliament, where organizers urged the Canadian government to take further action as the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas continues.
Eli Al-Shantiri said, "Every one of us should be here today to demand that the Canadian government support a ceasefire."
This gathering comes in the wake of continuous bombings in Gaza, while many communications, both internet and phone, in the area remain disrupted due to the intense Israeli bombardment.
Asil Munir, from the Palestinian Youth Movement, told local media: "Complete isolation from the world is a completely inhumane act as it is unacceptable to cut them off from each other and request emergency teams to come and assist them."
With explosions continuing in Gaza, Palestinian health officials now report that over 8000 people have been martyred. As the death toll rises, many in Ottawa are asking when the loss of innocent lives will end.
Asking, "Where is our humanity? Is this good? Is this good?" said Leslie Edwards, holding a sign that read "Shame on Canada" along with pictures of injured or deceased young children.
Thousands of angry Palestinians participated in the Sunday march, continuing a series of marches that Palestinians have initiated since the start of the war on Gaza, condemning the Israeli aggression on the region.
The demonstrators chanted for the need to halt support for Israel, along with ensuring the entrance of humanitarian aid.
The demonstrators also criticized the Canadian Prime Minister’s stance of refusing to stop supporting Israel.
They also called during their chants on Canadian media to stop marketing lies, maintain professional ethics, and side with the truth.
