Dozens of firefighters and a group of people are expected to walk through downtown in a funeral procession for a Sudbury firefighter on Wednesday afternoon.

"Mike Norman McHugh Frost" unexpectedly died at home on May 19 at the age of 40.

Deputy Fire Chief Jesse O'Sheil told CTV News that he started as a volunteer firefighter in Copper Cliff for several years and was able to secure a full-time job around 2011.

O'Sheil said, "Mike was, of course, a very important part of our firefighting team and served in a number of stations, the last of which was in Valley Terraces."

The city will close roads along the procession route. He added that the funeral will depart from Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home on Larch Street at 1:30 PM.

The procession will walk north down Paris Street to Elm Street, turn at the Elm Place shopping center, head west to Elgin Street, where it will go north toward Beach Street to Christ the King Church.

O'Sheil said that all firefighters as well as police and paramedics in the city have been invited. City officials stated that residents should prepare for road closures.
