A new passport office in Kingston, Ontario aims to help Canadians obtain passports sooner if they need to travel.
The Canadian Service Centre in Kingston on Bath Road has become a 10-day passport processing facility, meaning that people traveling within 45 days can apply for 10-day processing with proof of travel documents.
The announcement on Wednesday in Kingston is one of four newly announced locations across the country in response to the extremely long wait times and lines Canadians faced while waiting for passports.
Social Development Minister Karina Gould said the government has issued more than 900,000 passports since April, with 97 percent of passports issued at Canadian Service Centres being completed within 10 business days.
