The Ontario government says the COVID-19 booster vaccine targeting Omicron is available to at-risk residents and everyone over 70 years old, with all remaining adults eligible as of September 26.
All Ontario residents aged 18 and over will be eligible for the bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccines on September 26.
It is worth mentioning that the bivalent booster is a modified version of the original Moderna mRNA vaccine and targets both the original COVID-19 strain as well as the Omicron variant.
At 8 a.m., the priority vaccine became available to vulnerable population groups, which include:
Individuals aged 70 and over
Long-term care home residents
Retirement homes and nursing homes
And individuals living in other congregate settings that provide assisted living and health services; Indigenous, Inuit populations and their non-Indigenous family members aged 18 and older;
Individuals with moderate to severe immunodeficiency aged 12 and older
Pregnant individuals aged 18 and older
And healthcare workers aged 18 and older.
