North Korea announced today, Wednesday, that it conducted a training exercise to launch the strategic cruise missile "Hwasal-2" the previous day.
The Korean Central News Agency stated that the missile launch "did not pose any threat to the safety of countries neighboring North Korea and aimed to verify the rapid counterattack status and improve its strategic strike capability" of the North Korean army.
The South Korean army announced on Tuesday that it detected several cruise missiles launched by North Korea around 7 a.m. local time from its western coast, according to Yonhap News Agency.
The launch was the third cruise missile launch by North Korea in a week.
