Additional measures to strengthen the fight against armed violence in Montreal will be announced Saturday afternoon at a press conference.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security Geneviève Guilbault will be accompanied on this occasion by the Minister responsible for Metropolis and the Montreal area Chantal Rouleau, as well as Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante and the acting director of the Montreal Police Service (SPVM), Sophie Roy.
The number of shooting incidents in the city has increased in recent months, and the two murders last Tuesday, which occurred in broad daylight in public places, have shaken the sense of security of Montreal residents once again.
Within 30 minutes, during lunchtime on Tuesday, a man was shot in the parking lot of Rockland Shopping Center and another on the balcony of a pizza restaurant on Saint Denis Street.
