The Union of French-speaking Farmers of Ontario (UCFO) and the Quebec Women Farmers' Union have decided to offer a joint program to encourage entrepreneurship among women by providing free guidance services to women farmers. Women's representation in agriculture remains insufficient. In Ontario, women make up 31% of those working in this sector, while in Quebec their percentage is 28%.
’’We are very concerned about providing the next generation of women farmers,’’ says the General Manager of the Union of French-speaking Farmers of Ontario, Danik Lafond. For this reason, the organization he represents will offer an individual mentoring program in the field of agriculture called ’’AgriMentor’’. Consequently, women farmers will be able to discuss professional development together, exchange knowledge, solve problems, and more.
