The National Aeronautics and Space Administration "NASA" sent two research aircraft to Taiwan, for the third time, today Wednesday; to help Taiwan improve its air quality management, according to a statement by the Ministry of Environment.
The ministry's statement added that, as was the case with two previous flights on February 15 and 28, NASA's flights today Wednesday to Taiwan are part of the "Seven Southeast Asia Studies Mission," a project to monitor air quality across Asia, according to the Taiwan Central News Agency "CNA" today.
The ministry added that the two planes, "DC8" and "G3," arrived at about 10:40 AM today Wednesday, and are scheduled to operate for two hours over the skies above Taiwan.
The ministry said it will continue cooperation with NASA to allow research aircraft to fly over Taiwan in the future.
The ministry added that a total of 550 samples of pollutants were collected, including ozone, fine particles, and volatile organic compounds in the previous two missions.
