The official Moroccan television announced, citing the Ministry of Health, on Thursday, the recording of the first confirmed case of monkeypox.

The source stated that the recorded case is of a traveler coming from a European country, and was detected within the framework of the protocol established in the kingdom since the announcement of the global health alert regarding the spread of monkeypox.

Morocco had reinforced health monitoring procedures at its various border points, whether land, sea, or air, after its northern neighbor Spain and other European countries recorded confirmed cases of monkeypox.

The health authorities in the kingdom, through the National Center for Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health, are monitoring the global epidemiological situation of the monkeypox virus and all the recommendations issued by the World Health Organization, to prevent the spread of the viral disease within the kingdom.

The Moroccan Ministry of Health had issued a guide to raise awareness about this disease before it entered the kingdom, and called for the immediate reporting of any suspected or potential case to the health authorities for medical diagnosis.
