In a message to Ontario residents about their plans for the province, the Ford government hinted at a new "bold" healthcare strategy.
Some fear that these are the first steps on the path to privatization. "As the province continues to pursue these [healthcare] reforms, it will not be bound by conventional thinking that stifles innovation and maintains the status quo that struggles to respond to increasing challenges and changing needs.
Instead, based on the best evidence and the successes of other jurisdictions, your government will take bold actions that prioritize patients and their health above all else."
Therefore, the province highlights more than $40 billion spent on healthcare, the creation of over 3,500 new hospital beds, and 30,000 long-term care beds, in addition to expanding existing hospitals such as the $29 million allocated for the new Civic campus in Ottawa.
