Kuwait announced on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the dissolution of the National Assembly (parliament) and the call for new elections within months, while the new government headed by Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad took the constitutional oath before the Crown Prince.
The amiri decree stated, "As a correction to the political scene, which includes discord and conflicts, prioritizing personal interests, and engaging in actions that threaten national unity, it is necessary to resort to the people as the destiny, continuity, and survival, so they can restore the correct course."
Earlier, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait, said there is a tendency to dissolve the National Assembly and call for early elections.
On Monday, Kuwait announced its new government formation headed by Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Sabah.
On July 24, Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, son of the Emir, was appointed as the new Prime Minister to replace the resigned Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid, who faced disputes with parliament that hindered financial reform.
