The number of Quebec hospital residents seeking treatment for COVID-19 increased by 62 to a new total of 2,148.

According to public health officials, 724 of these patients require specialized virus care.

A total of 264,372 rapid tests were announced with 220,747 positive results.

On Monday, 498 cases were reported, including 427 positive cases. Quebec encourages people to report the result of home rapid tests so officials can get a clearer picture of infection levels in the province.

There are currently 6,580 healthcare workers absent due to COVID-19 related reasons.

Healthcare professionals in Quebec administered an additional 6,894 vaccines, bringing the total to 20,287,219 doses.

The Quebec Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, pointed out that vaccination against the virus does not completely prevent infection but reduces the risks of severe outcomes.
