With the outbreak of bloody battles between the Russians and Ukrainians, the residents of Montreal came out to express their solidarity with the Ukrainians, as dozens of them gathered in front of the Rodiek Gate at McGill University to show their support.
The demonstration was organized in coordination between the Ukrainian student unions at the University of Montreal, McGill, and Concordia.
One of the supervisors of the demonstration confirmed that "We are organizing this demonstration as a Canadian-Ukrainian community in Montreal to express our anger at the recent news about the continued Russian invasion of Ukraine."
He added, "Canada and our allies must impose strict sanctions on Russia immediately, and continue their military and economic assistance" to Ukraine. Supporting Ukraine supports freedom."
