Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly expressed her strong condemnation of the attack that targeted the “Beth Tikvah” synagogue in Montreal, through a post on the “X” platform (formerly Twitter).
Joly said in her tweet:
“I am horrified by the attack on the Beth Tikvah synagogue in Montreal. Antisemitic acts are completely unacceptable and have no place in our communities. We stand firmly with the Jewish community and call for a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
Joly's statements came as part of a wide wave of condemnation for this attack, which raised increasing concerns about the rise of hate crimes against religious and cultural communities in Canada.
The minister confirmed the government's commitment to combating all forms of discrimination and hatred and to promoting the values of diversity and respect in Canadian society.
