Canadian Health Minister, Mark Holland, expressed strong anger at tobacco companies marketing nicotine pouches to children, causing them severe harm.

Holland said in a press conference in Ottawa that flavored nicotine pouches greatly contribute to the addiction of Canadian children, and emphasized the need for strict regulations to protect youth from the harmful effects of tobacco products.

He said, "I am currently working to obtain authority to regulate the products; we should not see flavors targeting children, flavors like Winter Berry Splash that cause harm to our children.”

He also added: "No matter the influence of the tobacco industry and the pursuit of our children, and whatever loophole they think they can exploit, they will find me like an iron wall, stay away from our children.”

It is noteworthy that these nicotine pouch products resemble gum and some sweets, and also resemble moist tobacco in the Swedish style but lack tobacco leaves and have often been used as a smokeless alternative to traditional tobacco products.”
