The Spanish Pep Guardiola, the manager of the English team Manchester City, confirmed the impossibility of achieving the historic treble in the new season, after winning it in the past season, during the press conference ahead of the match against Burnley, scheduled for tomorrow evening, in the opening of the new season of the English Premier League 2023 - 2024.
Guardiola said: "I don't think we will win the treble again this season, history speaks for itself, history shows that when you achieve something like what we did, it's almost impossible to repeat it."
He added: "It's like last season ended yesterday, we will start again from scratch and try in every match. It's not good to think about the title in August and September. We will fight round by round and try to improve every day."
Regarding the match against Burnley: "The first matches are usually difficult especially against newly promoted teams, they have energy and want to start well. Vincent Kompany knows us well, and he is doing a great job, he has destroyed the Championship."
He continued: "We need to forget everything, we need to try to perform against Burnley, then Newcastle, then Sheffield United, this season I need to challenge myself, and the players need to challenge me, we have to respect each other. We will start anew and see what happens, we will take it step by step, and compete as we did against Arsenal last season."
Guardiola revealed the readiness of the duo Josko Gvardiol coming from German Leipzig, in addition to Dutch defender Nathan Ake, after recovering from injury.
