The emergency operations headquarters announced the death of one person and the injury of 356 others due to the "Koinu" typhoon that struck southern Taiwan.
The same source indicated that the electricity supply was cut off for more than 368,300 families because of the typhoon. Water supplies were also temporarily suspended for 3,500 households.
The "Koinu" typhoon struck southern Taiwan on Thursday evening and crossed the island from east to west.
The typhoon is currently moving away from the island toward Hong Kong and the coast of Guangdong Province in southern China.
The "Hinnamnor" typhoon, which hit Taiwan last month, resulted in the cancellation of 39 flights and over 100 ferry services across the country, and the evacuation of more than 600 people in the areas most affected by the weather conditions.
