Dozens of Liberal members of Parliament have called on the Minister of Finance to allocate funds for the Canadian Disability Benefit in next month's federal budget.
In a letter shared on social media, MP Ryan Turnbull said this benefit, designed to help lift people with disabilities out of poverty, is an "old social policy" for the government.
The Liberals first introduced a bill to establish this benefit nearly two years ago.
The Canadian Disability Benefit became law last summer, and the government has been consulting on it for months.
Liberal MPs say this measure has the support of all parties as well as the majority of Canadians, who want to see funding in the budget to implement it.
Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is scheduled to present the budget on April 16.
