A man from California has filed a lawsuit against businessman Elon Musk for defamation, claiming that the latter promoted a false story on his social network X, accusing the plaintiff of collaborating with intelligence agencies.
This was reported today by the Associated Press, which mentioned that the lawsuit filed by 22-year-old Benjamin Brody relates to a video published by the social network X discussing clashes during an LGBT festival in Oregon in June.
In that incident, some protesters were wearing the garb of the right-wing extremist group Proud Boys.
Some social media users also pointed out that one of the participants in the riots resembles Brody, who had previously stated that he wanted to work for the state apparatus, raising suspicions about the possibility of his cooperation with the relevant security agencies.
The lawsuit indicates that Musk, who played an active role in discussing what happened, assisted in spreading the defamation against Brody, who was attacked as a result. For example, Musk commented that the incident resembled "an operation under a false flag" and suggested the possibility of Brody being involved with intelligence agencies.
The young man intends to seek financial compensation from Elon Musk of no less than one million dollars.
