Four students at the Royal Military College died in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
The Canadian Department of National Defence stated that the incident occurred early yesterday morning on Friday, without providing any details.
The department confirmed that the victims' relatives will be informed, and therefore "no further information will be provided at this time."
Investigations into the incident continue to clarify its circumstances.
Later, the Department of National Defence said that an investigation is underway following the death of four students who were about to graduate in a car accident at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario early Friday morning.
The college commander, Naval Brigadier José Cortez, confirmed on Friday evening that the families of the deceased had been notified, and the officer cadets Jack Hogarth, André Honsio, Broden Murphy, and Andres Salk were identified as the victims.
Cortez also said: "This tragic loss has pained all members of the RMC military college."
The accident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on Friday in Point Frederick, a peninsula at the Canadian Forces Kingston base located between Kingston Harbour and Navy Bay on the Saint Lawrence River, where the Royal Military College (RMC) is situated on the peninsula, east of downtown Kingston.
Investigators were seen on Friday examining the road and coastline by boats and on foot.
Late Friday afternoon, authorities pulled the vehicle that the students were in from the water.
Meanwhile, the Canadian Department of Defence said in a press statement that RMC's first priority is ensuring the care and support of naval officers, staff, faculty members, and families.
Explaining that this loss is great at RMC College and we offer our deepest condolences to all our members, their families, and friends during this difficult time."
Also, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his solidarity with the victims' families on Twitter, saying in a tweet that appeared on Friday, "His heart breaks for the families and friends of the four military officers who lost their lives this morning in Kingston."
Adding, "The tragic death of these young Canadians is a devastating loss. To all who knew them: We’re here for you."

On the other hand, Kingston Mayor Brian Paterson, as a member of the RMC community, said he "is deeply saddened to hear the news of this tragic loss of four of the officers."
Adding, "As Mayor of Kingston, I would like to express my sincere condolences to their families; friends, and everyone at RMC, we stand with you and offer our full support."

Meanwhile, Canadian Minister of National Defence Anita Anand shared her condolences, saying she is "sad that four officer cadets lost their lives very early at RMC Kingston.
Adding, "I offer my deepest condolences to their families, loved ones, and classmates as they mourn this profound loss, which is felt by the Canadian Armed Forces and the country."

In a press statement on Friday evening, Canadian Chief of Defence Staff General Wayne Eyre said his heart breaks for those who know the military students.
Adding, he said: "I am shocked by today's loss of four of our nation's young leaders."
Explaining, the entire Canadian Armed Forces mourn the loss of their loved ones and will support them in any way they need during the difficult and emotional days ahead."
