Associated Press Agency: The prosecutor's office said that the investigation into a murder began on Monday after a security guard was killed at the Qatari embassy in Paris and a suspect was arrested.

The circumstances of the killing, including the method used, were not immediately clear. The prosecutor's office said, "The use of a weapon has not been confirmed at this time."

French media reports stated that the guard was killed at around seven in the morning outside the embassy in the posh 8th district of Paris, and was apparently beaten to death. Several French media outlets mentioned that the suspect seems to be mentally disturbed.

The police refused to comment on the killing.

The special terrorism prosecutor did not intervene in the case, which means terrorism has been excluded as a motive behind the attack.
