The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Kamloops says proactive police patrols have led to the seizure of a large amount of cash and illegal drugs earlier this week.
In a statement, the police say the vehicle was stopped at Columbia Street and 6th Avenue after 8 a.m. on Monday, September 19 to check the driver's sobriety and licensing status.
They also say more than $5,000 in cash, 50 grams of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, five cell phones, and other drug paraphernalia were confiscated after the vehicle was searched.
Crystal Evelyn (RCMP) said: "When we consider the potential deadly capacity of fentanyl and other controlled substances seized during the traffic stop, these investigations play an important role in keeping toxic drugs off the streets and preventing overdoses, giving users more time to seek help for their addiction."
In the same context, three adult men - two from Kamloops and one from Celista - were arrested for possession of controlled substances, then released at the scene as part of the investigation.
The police are asking anyone with information to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 with reference file 2022-33427.
