By our bad luck or good luck, we cannot truly know, but whenever we come across a joke, whether we read or hear it, we always tend to link it to an incident or situation or idea that causes us stomach pain and irritation in our colon, except of course for a category of people who live to eat..
Perhaps this is a justification and understandable to us, for example, if someone told you a joke like, a boy said to his father, "Do you believe I saw a magician turning twenty dollars into a pigeon!" The father replied mockingly, "And what is so strange about that, did you not see your mother convert my entire salary into a dress?!" .. Now which of us has not thought of a political leader or a high-ranking official in the state, who transformed the entire budget of a province into a white palace on the banks of the Tigris!
Another person says addressing his wife, "Can you believe that I used to think that marrying you would bring me bad luck?" She replied, "Well, why did you marry me then?" He said to her, "I have confirmed that !!".. Is there anyone among us who has not had a leader or a self-proclaimed one on their mind, whom they believed was the cause of the bad luck in all our lives, only for the situations, actions, and calamities they brought upon us to confirm that!
Another says, "Whenever I remember the day of my marriage, I recall signing the contract while I was completely sane, without any restraint, coercion, or pressure, except that 'What wrong have we done to them? But they wronged themselves!' .. How can you not think that, despite reading that verse thousands of times 'as a religious person', you go back and vote for the same 'cursed' leaders mentioned above and their candidates again, in an action that can only be described as foolish..
A boy describes his situation in his family, saying, "My older brother is my father's favorite, my younger sister is my mother's favorite, and I, the middle one, feel among them as if I were from the Jews of Banu Qurayza".. Is it reasonable that all our Arab rulers think of us, their Arab people, as if we were from the Jews of Banu Qurayza!
A young employee, confusion and annoyance covering his face, says that he wished to have the courage to ask his department manager, who whenever he talked about the achievements of his department begins by saying, "Under the sponsorship of the esteemed officials..." to ask him, responsible for what? And what does he mean by sponsorship?! Is it similar to social sponsorship, for instance, or what! But he fears punishment and salary cuts..
A man recounts an enviable situation that he put himself in, saying, "I told my wife while pretending to represent 'civilization and modernity and secularism', 'Do you know that a woman has the right to refuse childbirth to preserve her beauty?' She calmly replied in a clear voice while cleaning the house floor, 'I wish your mother had preserved her beauty!'.. Here we have the right to swear that many officials and politicians, along with their ignorant and foolish followers, come to mind, and we wish their mothers had preserved their beauty!
Forget all that, let's laugh a little and look for new jokes that distract us from our ugly, deteriorating reality, especially since we do not strive to change this reality, even on a personal level, perhaps because we want jokes to entertain and sedate us for sleep, or are we not a sleeping Arab nation!
