Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni today made a new appeal to Israel to preserve the safety of civilians in Gaza.
Meloni said, in response to journalists' questions during the year-end press conference: Regarding the Middle East issue, we have worked from the beginning to avoid escalating the conflict that could have unimaginable consequences.
Meloni confirmed that the Italian stance was among the most balanced recognized positions, pointing to the condemnation of the terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas while supporting Israel's right to exist and defend itself.
The Italian Prime Minister also took the opportunity to make a new appeal to Israel to preserve the safety of the civilian population in Gaza, according to the Italian site “Decod 39”.
Meloni expressed her belief that dialogue with Arab countries is essential, also concerning the conflict in the Middle East. Meloni continued: We must avoid escalation in the Middle East that could have unimaginable consequences. We have worked with great balance.
She pointed to the importance of dialogue with Arab countries and working on a structural solution to the Palestinian problem, affirming that it is essential.
She went on to say: I think it is wrong to say let’s destroy Hamas and then see, because one of the most effective tools to expose and deceive Hamas is to work seriously on a constructive solution.
