The Iraqi government called, today Wednesday, for an Arab, Islamic, and regional movement to prevent genocide in Palestine, while reiterating its support for the Palestinian people's cause and urging all international parties to open the door for medical and food assistance and humanitarian relief efforts.

The spokesperson for the government, Baseem Al-Awadi, stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency "WAA", that "the Iraqi government is following the developments in Gaza and the occupied territories in Palestine, particularly the recent escalation of Zionist aggression on Rafah, with more women, children, and unarmed civilians becoming martyrs."

He emphasized "the necessity of an exceptional Arab and regional stand, as well as the requirement for the international community and its organizations to bear responsibility and exert more efforts to stop the criminal excess in shedding the blood of the Palestinian people."

He added that "Iraq calls for a responsible Arab, Islamic, and regional movement at both the popular and official levels, and from all voices that can exert pressure; to put an end to the disregard for international and humanitarian norms, to prevent the ongoing complete genocide, and to avert the spread of conflict in the region, pushing it irresponsibly towards an endless cycle of violence."

He continued: "Iraq highly appreciates the recent positions represented by the recognition of several friendly countries of the State of Palestine on its historical land, in a clear response to the careless policies adopted by some international powers that supported the aggression or remained silent about it, even justifying the crime."

He confirmed that "the Iraqi government reiterates its support for the cause of the Palestinian people and urges all international parties and concerned governments to take immediate action to open the door for medical and food assistance and humanitarian relief efforts."
