The Chelsea team hosts its counterpart Liverpool at 6:30 PM today, Sunday, at Stamford Bridge, as part of the first round of the English Premier League in the new 2023-2024 season.

Chelsea, led by their new coach Mauricio Pochettino, aims for a convincing start in today's summit against Liverpool, despite the challenging task against a team of the Reds' stature.

Pochettino, the Blues coach, also strives to place the London club in the spotlight of competition for all titles, both domestically and in Europe.

Chelsea begins its season in the Premier League after a major failure last season 2022-2023 at both the domestic and European levels, exiting without any titles and dropping to 12th place in the Premier League table, failing to qualify for European competitions.

The Chelsea team played 5 matches in 17 days during the preparatory round for the new season, winning 3 matches, drawing 2, and not suffering any defeats, scoring 13 goals and conceding 5.

Chelsea started the preparatory camp with a fantastic 5-0 victory against Wrexham, followed by a win over Brighton 4-3, then a draw with Newcastle United 1-1, a victory over Fulham 2-0, and finally a 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund.

On the other hand, Liverpool, led by Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, plays today's match against Chelsea to send a strong message to all competitors in the new season, after a forgettable season in which the Reds exited without any titles and failed to qualify for the Champions League, instead playing in the Europa League.

The Liverpool team has played 5 friendly matches in its preparatory camp in preparation for the new season, winning 3 matches, losing 1 match, and drawing 1.

German coach Jurgen Klopp aims to return the Reds to competition for titles both domestically and in Europe after last season's disappointing outcome.
Mohamed Salah looks forward to making history in the Chelsea vs. Liverpool match

The Egyptian international Mohamed Salah is awaiting a record in today's Liverpool vs. Chelsea clash, holding 8 goals from 6 matches in the first round of opening matches in the Premier League, a record he shares with Alan Shearer, Frank Lampard, and Wayne Rooney, and he has the opportunity to break the record for most goals in opening matches if he scores in the next match for Liverpool in the Premier League.

Chelsea is the team Salah has faced the most during his professional career, having played against the Blues in 21 matches with all the clubs he has represented, achieving 9 victories, 6 draws, and 6 defeats, having scored 7 goals against the London club and provided 2 assists.

Liverpool has outperformed Chelsea in their previous 194 encounters in various competitions, which began in December 1907, with the Reds achieving 84 victories, the last of which was on September 20, 2020, when they won 2-0 against Chelsea in London in the league.

In contrast, Chelsea has recorded 65 victories against Liverpool, the last of which was on March 4, 2021, when they won 1-0 at Anfield in the same competition, while 45 encounters between the two clubs ended in a draw.
