In an unprecedented event, Rogers networks across Canada have been experiencing outages since Friday morning as customers reported issues related to mobile phone services and internet connectivity.

The outage has also affected some call centers and offices affiliated with Service Canada, including passport offices.

Thank you Rogers addressed customers in a tweet on Friday morning, saying that network issues are currently being monitored and more updates will be provided.

The tweet said: "We are aware of the issues currently affecting our networks, and our teams are fully engaged to resolve the problem as quickly as possible."

The online service tracker istheservicedown.ca reported issues from the telecommunications company since 4:40 AM Eastern Time.

With initial reports of network outages coming from Ontario, the province's transit payment system Metrolinx also reported issues with fare payments using debit and credit cards.

Service Canada stated in a tweet that some call centers are facing network issues, including passport offices - which have been crowded for weeks due to a backlog of passports and renewals across the country.

The banking service Interac said in a statement that its online services in Canada were affected and that the nationwide service outage has also impacted its online services.

Interac tweeted on Friday: "There is currently a nationwide communication outage with the network provider affecting the availability of INTERAC services."
