Hutchinson, 45 years old, took first place in the national championships of the Canadian Weightlifting Federation held in St. John's, NFLD and took first place.
She says, in September 2019, her doctor gave her a death sentence when he told her that her alcohol addiction could cost her life within two years.
Hutchinson admitted herself to a rehabilitation center for her alcohol addiction and says the day after her discharge she started weightlifting.
She started training and completely changed her lifestyle by following a healthy diet, training five days a week, sleeping eight hours a day, and consuming a lot of calories to achieve peak performance.
Hutchinson said she hopes to compete in the Commonwealth Games and other championships at the regional and global levels.
