Basketball has returned to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Center in Victoria, with tickets going on sale Friday for the second round of the FIBA 2023 Men's Basketball World Cup qualifiers.

Led by Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse, Team Canada will face Argentina in the first game of the second round on August 25.

The Canadian men finished first in Group 3 in the first round of qualifiers, posting a 6-0 record, while Argentina finished second in Group 1, with a 5-1 record.

The World Cup qualifiers follow the Olympic qualifiers tournament held last year at the Victoria venue.

Michael Bartlett, President and CEO of Basketball Canada, said in a statement Thursday: "We saw firsthand last summer the passion for basketball not only in the city of Victoria but in all the surrounding municipalities that make up the Greater Victoria area."

"We are excited to return later this summer as we continue our journey toward qualifying for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, and ultimately the Paris 2024 Olympic Games."

Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps said she was "pleased to host this exciting and important national event in the capital."

Helps added: "The basketball courts in all our parks are one of the city's most used assets, which clearly shows that Victorians love basketball and will be very excited to hold this game here."

Tickets for the Canada vs. Argentina game will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday and are available here. The game is scheduled to start at 7:40 p.m. on August 25.
