Kevin McCallister's childhood home hit the market for $5.25 million.

With just over 9,000 square feet, the house that appeared in the film "Home Alone" last sold in 2012 for $1,585,000, according to the Zillow real estate market.

This Georgian-style home features five bedrooms and six bathrooms, built in 1921, and includes ample space for mischievous acts like those that appeared in the beloved 1990 film.

The Dawn McKenna group, the real estate team selling the property, added that it is "a rare opportunity to own one of the most iconic movie homes in American culture."

The film, which kicks off the classic Christmas holiday, stars young Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, an 8-year-old boy who is forced to defend himself after his family accidentally leaves him home alone during the holiday season.

While Kevin's family is on vacation in Paris, he enjoys life for himself in the large house - gorging on junk food and sledding down the stairs. But when he hears that burglars are targeting the house, he sets up a series of deceptive traps to thwart their plans.

The Dawn McKenna group stated in its online listing that the home for sale is located in Winnetka, Illinois, and "embodies" the classic Chicago suburb architectural style.

The listing added that the house was fully renovated and expanded in 2018, but the "integrity of the most distinctive and recognizable spaces in the home" has been preserved.

Features include "a gourmet kitchen, a hot tub, and a movie theater." The "biggest surprise" is an indoor sports court with a three-point line.

In 2021, film fans had the chance to rent the house for just one night - for only $25.

Potential visitors were free to feast on Chicago-style pizza and craft mac and cheese, just as young McCallister enjoyed when he left the house alone.

Lego also created a fan replica of the house that sold for $249.99 in 2021. The 3,955-piece set was described as an "incredibly detailed recreation" by the company, honoring the ground floor, first floor, kitchen, basement, and attic.

Other famous homes have also hit the market for millions.

In February, the former residence of Freddie Mercury in West London sold for £30 million ($38 million).

Horror fans also had the chance to purchase the house featured in the 1984 film "A Nightmare on Elm Street" when a Los Angeles property sold for $3.25 million in 2021.
