Three individuals face charges after Durham Regional Police executed a search warrant for the third time in just over two months at Oshawid, an alleged illegal cannabis dispensary on King St W in Oshawa, on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, as investigators try to shut down the alleged illegal dispensary.
Durham Regional Police also say officers executed a third search warrant at Oshawid on King St W, west of Centre Street, where they arrested the shop owner and two of his assistants.
"In total, investigators seized more than $45,000 worth of cannabis and its products," stated Sergeant George Todos on Wednesday.
Trung Nguyen, 35, from Woodbridge, is charged with three counts related to possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, possession of proceeds obtained by crime exceeding $5,000. He was held at a bail hearing.
The second accused, Steven Thompson, 40, from Oshawa, is charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, possession of proceeds obtained by crime exceeding $5,000, and failing to comply with a undertaking. He was also held at a bail hearing.
The third accused, Thomas Perez, 21, from Woodbridge, is charged with obstructing a peace officer and possession of proceeds obtained by crime exceeding $5,000, and was released on an undertaking.
The police had previously executed a search warrant at Oshawid on July 16, where they seized cannabis, cash, and other cannabis products valued at over $66,000.
On August 3, the police executed a search warrant at the pottery store and seized cannabis, cash, and other products valued at $25,000.
