The German cabinet approved legislation today, Wednesday, aimed at facilitating the deportation of migrants whose asylum requests have been rejected.

The bill needs parliamentary approval to come into effect.

It is expected that the maximum duration of pre-deportation detention will be raised from 10 days to 28 days, and the deportation of individuals who are members of criminal organizations will be facilitated.

The law will also allow raids in residential areas to search for documents that help officials firmly identify individuals.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is seeking to defuse the immigration issue as a political problem.

The German Chancellor has stated that a very large number of migrants are flowing into Germany, emphasizing the urgent need to control the country's borders.

He also mentioned in an interview with the German media group RND that the current situation cannot continue, pointing out that more than 70% of refugees who arrived in Germany have not been registered beforehand, even though they had almost been in one of the EU countries.

He added, "For this reason, Germany supports the protection of Europe's external borders and the EU plans to register refugees in transit countries."

Scholz also noted that Germany has taken additional measures to protect its borders with Austria, and has also reached agreements regarding the monitoring of its common border with Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
