German Economy Minister Robert Habeck stated today, Tuesday, that Germany does not rule out European intervention to price gas.
The minister's statements come amid widespread concern over rising gas prices across Europe due to supply conditions and plans to continue reducing Russian gas imports.
In this context, Habeck added that concerns about an economic recession in Germany are very high at this stage.
Additionally, Habeck also mentioned that Germany wants to prevent the collapse of energy supply chains and will not immediately pass gas costs onto customers.
The German Economy Minister added that the German government is committed to its plan to prioritize private households in the event of a gas emergency.
Finally, Habeck reported that the gas market situation in Germany is tense, and it is not predictable whether further protective measures will be needed.
