Ryan Imgrund, a former teacher in Ontario who gained significant attention on social media during the pandemic due to his commentary on COVID-19, faces allegations of "sexual," "emotional," and "psychological" abuse of students.

The allegations were detailed in a hearing presented by the Ontario College of Teachers, describing accounts from five students dating back to 2015, all of whom were on a school team coached by Imgrund, who resigned from the college on June 8 after previously working at the York Catholic District School Board as a department head in Newmarket. It is worth noting that no criminal charges have been filed against Imgrund.

Imgrund, who describes himself as a "biological expert," also posted daily COVID-19 analysis throughout the pandemic, gathering more than 90,000 followers on Twitter. The claims have not been proven in court nor has a disciplinary hearing been scheduled yet.

During an out-of-town tournament, the accusations state that Imgrund sent a group message to four students, linked to their personal phone numbers, late at night and in the early morning hours. He allegedly invited the students in the messages to join him at the resort pool, where one message said: "Come down to the pool, get your floats and meet me at the pool," or words to that effect. In one instance, he is alleged to have sent a shirtless photo of himself, saying: "If you don't say I look good, I will cry." The college also accuses Imgrund of "requesting and/or receiving photographs" from a female student showing her in a swimsuit.

The college alleges that he sent "numerous" messages to another female student stating that he "wanted to know her as a coach and player, not just as a teacher and student" or words to that effect, and Imgrund was also accused of attempting to Facetime the student and following her on Instagram.

The York Catholic District School Board said they could not comment on these allegations when reached by CTV News Toronto on Saturday.
