Quebec recently recorded the spread of the toxic fungus known as White Spot Disease fungus or Candida auris fungus.
The current climate change has contributed to the emergence of such deadly fungal species.
A national crisis unit has recently been equipped and an investigation opened at Pierre-Boucher Hospital in Longueuil following the spread of the "killer fungus." This is the first time it has spread in the province.
Candida auris attacks hospital patients, especially those with weakened immune systems or those undergoing surgery or intravenous treatment.
This makes the person infected with these fungi at a 30 to 60% risk of death.
