Thick smoke rose from a warehouse storing garbage and recycling on Thursday evening.
Chris Ferry, Vice President of Aurelia, said: "We received the call at 7:25 PM about a fire, and smoke was rising from a large building."
As the smoke continued to rise from the building, nearby homes were advised to keep their windows closed, and the police closed Kitchener Street and the football fields in Kitchener Park.
Ferry said the fire was declared extinguished at about 3 AM, and the exact cause of the fire is unknown.
