European leaders announced in the final statement of the Granada Summit the initiation of a process to define the political orientations and general priorities of the European Union for the coming years, and to outline a strategic action plan to shape a shared future for the benefit of all.
The European summit discussed several geopolitical issues, primarily the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis, but the absence of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey hindered the reaching of a solution regarding the region that has been embroiled in disputes between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The final statement of the Granada Summit did not include any paragraph dedicated to the issue of migration, which has seen significant divisions among EU countries, as some demand stricter measures to combat irregular migration.
The participants emphasized strengthening defense and investment readiness in capabilities by developing the technological and industrial base of the European bloc.
The summit also affirmed the focus "especially on energy efficiency and resources, recycling, decarbonization, resilience to natural disasters, and adaptation to climate change."
