Toronto is expected to experience a record warm day today, Friday, as the city continues to undergo an unusual spell of mild weather.

The temperature may reach 7 degrees Celsius in the city today, which is not high enough to surpass the 9 degrees Celsius record set in 1990. However, the Canadian Environmental Agency expects temperatures to rise up to 12 degrees Celsius on Friday. If that happens, it will exceed the previous record of 10.6 degrees Celsius set by the city in 1938.

On average, February 9 sees a high of -1.8 degrees Celsius and a low of -10.4 degrees Celsius in Toronto.

The winter has been warmer than average this season, with noticeably little snowfall.

The city is experiencing a mix of sun and clouds today. Rain was expected since the night of Thursday, with a low of 6 degrees Celsius overnight, and rain or drizzle is expected to continue today.

Earlier on Thursday, a fog warning was issued as dense incomplete fog covered parts of the GTA area.

"Black ice may form in areas where temperatures are below freezing due to freezing fog." The warning stated that drivers should exercise caution.

The fog warning has since been lifted.

Saturday will be cooler, but still warm for this time of year, with a high of 7 degrees Celsius and a low of 4 degrees Celsius. This will be followed by a mix of sun and clouds and a high of 3 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
