The head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, criticized the Rapid Support Forces and the message conveyed by their leader, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo "Hemedti," to the United Nations General Assembly, describing the latter's hint at creating a separate government as intended for media consumption.

Al-Burhan stated in an interview with Al-Hurra Network when asked about Hemedti's message that he does not listen to talks whose sources he does not know, especially since these forces are fighting, killing citizens in Geneina and Khartoum, looting their properties, and raping their women and seizing their cars and belongings.

He added: "The entire Sudanese people are harmed by the war, and their properties have been looted, as we see destruction and devastation everywhere."

During his presence in New York, where he delivered a speech at the United Nations, Al-Burhan called on the international community to classify the Rapid Support Forces as a "terrorist organization."

He confirmed that the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, since April 2019, has made its pledges and commitments to hand over power to civilians through a purely civilian government overseeing the conduct of elections, without specifying any timeframe, indicating that it is related to the end of the war and the security situation in the country.

He outlined the steps that will follow the war in Sudan, by conducting a political dialogue that leads to a civilian government overseeing the transitional phase, followed by elections.
