The decision to hold the elections on May 14 was published in the official gazette signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Erdoğan announced that he will use his authority and "move forward" with the elections. While the government considered this as an "update" and not early elections.
Local newspaper sources stated that the Supreme Electoral Council has more than 40 publications ready for the elections scheduled for May 14. It was mentioned that about 10 circulars will be prepared after the announcement in the official gazette.
Erdoğan signed the election decision in front of the cameras at 14:10. Erdoğan pointed out at the beginning of his speech that the decision will be published in the official gazette tomorrow, but it was published in today's repeated issue.
Presidential sources mentioned that the election decision will be made by dissolving the council.
