Randy Hiller’s daughter, the former controversial Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) who protested COVID-19 vaccines and lockdowns, was ordered to pay nearly $100,000 to an instructor at Carleton University as compensation for defamation.

In an exclusive face-to-face interview, Ester Post told CityNews about the defamation case she filed against Chelsea Hiller and won, but the fight is not over yet according to her.

Post has worked as an English teacher at Carleton University since 2003, where she met Hiller in 2008 and taught her as a graduate student, then they later became friends. The two were very close to the point that Hiller was the maid of honor at Post’s wedding eight years ago. But political disagreements during the COVID-19 pandemic ended their friendship as Hiller ran for Member of Parliament (MP) under the People’s Party of Canada led by Maxime Bernier and again last month for the Populist Party in Ontario, before losing both elections.

In 2021, Post criticized Randy and Chelsea Hiller on Twitter for organizing anti-vaccine protests outside hospitals, and Chelsea Hiller first sent a tweet to Post with a warning in November 2021 telling her to fire her father or "this is coming," “this” being a flood of tweets from Hiller’s account, describing Post as a violent white nationalist, but the worst allegation that could ruin her career was that she was drugging students to have intimate relations with them in parking lots. Hiller also tagged Carleton University in one of her tweets, which is when trolls started to appear.

Hiller’s first Twitter account was suspended after Post reported the tweets, but she continued posting under a new account. After that, Post went to the police for help but was told that if she had to file a civil defamation suit it could cost her thousands of dollars in legal fees. However, she filed a lawsuit in December 2021, which led to a default judgment.

A little over two weeks ago, Judge Sally Gommer issued a scathing ruling against Hiller, saying her campaign on Twitter was “maliciously” motivated in an attempt to “bully Post.”
