Although springtime has arrived, winter is not over yet in Toronto.
Heavy snowfall is expected in the city on Friday afternoon and continuing throughout the night, with the Canadian Environmental Agency forecasting snow accumulation between 5 to 10 centimeters between Friday noon and Saturday morning.
Thursday saw a cold start to the day, with temperatures reaching -17 this morning, but the daytime high is expected to rise to one degree Celsius.
Bill Coulter, a meteorologist at CP24, said: "It is a bitter morning out there." "You will want to keep jackets, hats, and thick gloves handy for the rest of the workweek."
Northwest wind speeds are expected to reach 50 km/h today.
Coulter explained that another low-pressure system will target southern Ontario on Friday, with gusts rising around midday, followed by heavy snowfall accumulation from the afternoon hours until early nighttime."
"Slight warming is expected on Saturday, so expect a lot of melting and puddle jumping. Seasonally mild weather will eventually return to the area by mid-next week."
The Canadian Environmental Agency expects daytime temperatures to rise to 5 degrees Celsius and 6 degrees Celsius on the upcoming Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
