The police are asking residents, drivers, and pedestrians in the Hermitage Road and Henry Avenue NW area to shelter in place because there is a suspect in the area carrying a edged weapon.

One person has died and two others were injured as a result, with police saying the incidents are random. The attacker is described as a male with curly black hair and light skin, wearing a dark hoodie and a gray shirt; he is also described as disheveled and unkempt, and is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Edmonton Catholic Schools have confirmed that they have locked the exterior doors of their schools as a precautionary measure, affecting three classrooms. Additionally, Edmonton Public Schools have also locked the exterior doors at Homesteader, Belmont, Sifton, and Overlanders schools, and classes at those schools have been delayed.
