The Greater Montreal Chinese Family Service and the Sino Quebec de la Rive Sud Center announced filing a civil lawsuit amounting to 2.5 million dollars against the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), for their claim that they are believed to be "secret" Chinese police stations."

Since they were publicly classified by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as subjects of investigation on March 9, these two sole Chinese community centers in Quebec said they have suffered funding cuts, leading to the cancellation of essential services and programs.

The plaintiffs cited as an example, during a press conference in which all speakers spoke French, the Greater Montreal Chinese Family Services building, which has become threatened with closure. The banking institution holding the mortgage on the building reportedly announced its intention not to renew the mortgage contract next March, so as not to be linked to the criminal investigation conducted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Months after identifying the Chinese community centers in Greater Montreal, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police returned to the accusation by announcing that it had closed at least three secret Chinese police stations operating in Canada.

The federal police later identified that the targeted stations are located in Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia, without specifying whether any arrests have been made.

Many Chinese communities, including those in Quebec, said they have fallen victim to a campaign of persecution and defamation.
