Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the displacement of generations of the Palestinian people and their inability to return to their homes to this day is the longest injustice in our world.

He added that the recent escalation and extension of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict once again proves that the Palestine issue lies at the heart of the Middle East issue.

He confirmed that "China has firmly stood by fairness and justice all the time, and has worked strongly to end the conflict and protect civilians," adding that Beijing "pushed the UN Security Council to adopt its first resolution since the outbreak of the recent conflict, and issued a position paper on the political settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict."

The Foreign Minister pointed out that "China calls for accelerating efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state, and holding a broader and more effective international peace conference, to achieve true peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel."

He indicated that Palestine has never achieved its legitimate national rights nor established an independent state, affirming that "this is the root of all problems and the core of the Middle East problem," and that "the United States must work seriously to promote a ceasefire and a two-state solution."

Wang Yi had confirmed yesterday that his country will not allow the continuation of the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
