NHK reported the cancellation of at least 264 flights on Monday and Tuesday in Japan due to the approach of the strong typhoon "Kanon" towards the southern regions of the country.
The Japanese airline "JAL" announced the cancellation of 67 flights today, Monday, that were supposed to take off and land in Okinawa and Kagoshima prefectures. For its part, "ANA" announced the cancellation of 73 flights in the same direction today, Monday, and 124 flights tomorrow, Tuesday.
It is expected that the number of canceled flights in the country will increase throughout Monday.
The typhoon is currently moving towards the islands of Okinawa Prefecture and the "Amami" archipelago of Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan.
Currently, the wind speed of the typhoon is 40 meters per second. According to forecasts from the Japan Meteorological Agency, it will reach a speed of 45 meters per second by Monday evening.
