German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visits Canada today, Sunday, to discuss deepening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy and climate.

The German news agency explained that the German Chancellor's visit to Canada is accompanied by his deputy, Economy Minister Robert Habeck, to hold talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and to provide political, economic, and military support to Ukraine against Moscow.

Negotiations between Germany and Canada

The visit will also witness talks on how to economically deal with China before the upcoming G20 economic summit in Indonesia next November.

Indonesia's Bali Island is preparing to host a first-of-its-kind meeting between US President Joe Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the leaders of France, Britain, Germany, and Italy, face to face for the first time since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, during the anticipated G20 summit next November.

Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor, is scheduled to appear before his country's parliament to answer all questions regarding how he is handling the tax evasion crisis the country is experiencing, which involves 100 banks and a thousand suspects implicated in it.

British Reuters agency analysts said this accountability might undermine the Chancellor’s rule at a time he is already facing other crises he seeks to resolve, foremost among them the energy crisis threatening Germany due to the European sanctions imposed on Russia.
