The Canadian Ministry of Environment has issued a special weather statement for Toronto and much of southern Ontario, forecasting strong winds and a potential power outage this Saturday afternoon.
The statement, issued after 5 a.m. on Saturday, also forecasts winds reaching speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour starting in the afternoon and continuing until the evening. The statement also says: "A cold front associated with a strengthening low-pressure area will move through the region this evening and may blow loose objects causing injury or damage."
The statement also warns of a potential power outage throughout the city. Large parts of southern Ontario—from Niagara to Grey Bruce to Ottawa—are expected to experience strong winds on Saturday.
In this regard, the Canadian Ministry of Environment asks residents to continue monitoring local weather forecasts and report any severe weather to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet using #ONStorm.
