Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly said today, Friday, that they will discuss the escalation in the Middle East during the G7 foreign ministers' meeting today.
The foreign ministers of the G7 countries will begin the third day of their talks on the Italian island of Capri today, discussing the Middle East crisis, and will shift their focus to Ukraine later when the NATO Secretary General and the Ukrainian Foreign Minister join them.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated at the start of today’s talks that the issue of sanctions on Iran will be addressed while the West looks for ways to punish Tehran for its missile attack on Israel, but he reiterated the West's calls for Israel to exercise restraint.
Tajani said, “Any form of retaliation would endanger the already fragile and sensitive balances.”
