Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time.
In a tweet posted on Monday morning, Trudeau said he would follow public health guidelines and isolate himself until he recovers from the illness.
Last week, Trudeau was in Los Angeles to attend the Summit of the Americas, where he met with several senior officials, including US President Joe Biden.
This is the second confirmed COVID-19 infection after he tested positive for COVID-19 in January. The prime minister previously reported exposure to the virus on two occasions: in March 2020, he went into isolation for 14 days after his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau tested positive for COVID-19, and in late December 2021, he announced he was regularly testing and self-monitoring after some of his staff and security personnel tested positive.
